Artist Joan Eardley’s career lasted less than two decades, but the impact of her work, focused on the disparate subjects of urban Glasgow and rural Catterline in Aberdeenshire, remains keenly felt today. Edinburgh University’s Anne Galastro, co-author of Joan Eardley: A Sense of Place, the companion to the recent exhibition at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, introduces Eardley, her legacy, and the inspiration she found in Aberdeenshire. The event will be followed by a book signing, with copies of the writer’s work available to purchase on the night.
