ReimagiNation: Glenrothes Schools Programme

ReimagiNation: Glenrothes is a special book festival marking 70 years of Fife’s New Town with brilliant events featuring excellent authors for all ages, produced by the Edinburgh International Book Festival and Fife Cultural Trust. Click here to see events.

All events in this schools programme are free to attend, and we may be able to support your travel to the Rothes Halls too. Book Festival events generally last an hour and feature one or more authors or illustrators talking about their books, and often involve fun, interactive elements for children.

Read on for information about events and authors, how to book and planning your trip. Please note, prior knowledge of specific authors and books is not required.

With a range of free additional activities including arts and crafts fun, pop-up stalls to visit and post-event book signings, we encourage you to arrange your transport with additional time built in after your event concludes.

Preparing for Your Visit

All tickets for the ReimagiNation: Glenrothes Schools Programme are FREE.

You can book online from Wednesday 21 February. Please read our booking policy and deadlines to ensure your booking is received and processed correctly. Click here to see our Schools Event listings.

Pre-Visit Information

Once you have booked tickets we will send you the information you need to help you plan your visit, including maps and directions. We will send this by email so please remember to include your email address when you book.

Books to Buy

Waterstones will be popping up at ReimagiNation, and we encourage pupils to bring money should they wish to buy a book. See the Bookshelf section of each listing for relevant books. Purchasing books is never necessary though and children are encouraged to meet and speak to authors after events whether they buy a book or not.

Accessing the Festival

All events take place in or depart from the Rothes Halls, at the west end of the Kingdom Shopping Centre in Glenrothes. The Rothes Halls are fully accessible, with accessible entrances, an induction loop and wheelchair spaces in the main auditorium, adapted toilet facilities and more. For full access information, see our Visiting the Festival page.
