What is On the Road?

The Edinburgh International Book Festival On the Road takes the Book Festival around Scotland throughout the year, supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

A celebration of words and ideas, the Book Festival On the Road blends the very best from groups and organisations across the country with the energy and excitement of the August Book Festival. Produced in collaboration with a variety of partners, this wide-ranging programme of events and activities brings authors, artists and audiences together to inspire each other and to be inspired, to share stories and experiences, and bring books to life for people of all ages in their own communities.

All new and upcoming projects will be announced here and on edbookfest.co.uk.

We’re always on the look out for new partners to help our On the Road programme grow across the country. If you’d like to get involved, please email us on: ontheroad@edbookfest.co.uk

The Edinburgh International Book Festival is a registered charity, a non-profit making organisation. It is a distinctive international showcase celebrating the written word, literature and ideas. It brings leading and emerging international, British and Scottish authors and thinkers together to inspire each other and audiences in an extensive programme of public events each August. With the support of players of People’s Postcode Lottery, the Communities Programme has expanded its activities to take the essence of the Edinburgh International Book Festival on the road around Scotland.
