It's not long now until our Stories & Scran event, an evening of food and entertainment, hosted by our Citizen Writers in Residence Eleanor Thom and Leyla Josephine. With live readings, audio recordings and short films created by Citizen participants, the event will showcase the insightful work of local people from North Edinburgh and Musselburgh.

Our Community partners Scran Academy will be cooking and delivering sixty free meals to households across Edinburgh and Musselburgh.

We've had a lot of requests from people who want to recreate the menu devised by Scran Academy at home, from as far away as Switzerland and the USA! So we've shared the recipe cards, for meat and vegetarian options, below. The recipes for the starter and main serve 4 people.

Starter:
Ham Hock or Summer Vegetable Terrine, Scran Piccalilli and Sourdough Toast.

Please note that for the Ham Hock recipe the gelatine quantity should be 3 leaves of gelatine, or 3 tsp powdered gelatine.

Scran Academy, a catering social enterprise providing great value food, aims to support young people’s transition from school to a working life. You can find out more about their work in the North Edinburgh community by visiting their website, https://www.scranacademy.com/

Stories and Scran is a Citizen event. Citizen is our long-term creative programme working in partnership with organisations across Edinburgh and Musselburgh, offering local people a platform to explore identity, connection, place and everything it means to live in our world right now.

Citizen is part of Edinburgh International Book Festival On The Road. It is supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery and through the PLACE Programme (funded by the Scottish Government, City of Edinburgh Council, and the Edinburgh Festivals, and supported and administered by Creative Scotland).
